Enjoy wine at The Circle: Opening of Leon's Bodega

Wine is making its grand entrance into The Circle. Not just one, but 230 different ones. In the newly opened Leon's Bodega, wine lovers and connoisseurs will not only find fine wines, but also delicious feel-good food based on a sharing concept.

Whether to take away, while standing or in the best company at the long table, the offer of the Bodega is a delight. The atmospheric industrial design, with its chandelier made from 110 bottles of wine, is sure to leave an unforgettable impression.

Modern European wine range

René Sommer, Managing Director of the Bodega, describes the wide range of wines as modern European with many Italian, Spanish, French, German and Swiss wines. But that's not the only thing that characterises the wine selection: ‘We focus on organic and biodynamic wines.’ Even those who prefer not to drink alcohol will find a delicious grape-based drink at the Bodega, such as a non-alcoholic sparkling wine. The wine selection is curated by the Smith & Smith Wine Company.

And how to cope with this wide selection? ‘Ana, our Bodega manager, and Seraina, a trained sommelier, will find the right wine for every guest.’ If the wine is not available by the glass, they will open a bottle on request to spoil guests with a single glass.

Hybrid concept: all wines also available for purchase

A selection of smaller and larger delicacies completes the culinary experience. ‘In addition to the popular classics from the neighbouring Leon's Loft, we offer freshly prepared smaller plates of vegetables, meat and fish, which are ideal for sharing or for enjoying on your own.’ If you still haven't had enough of the Bodega and its wines after a felicitous evening, you can buy your favourite wine or a new discovery to take home. Because, says René, ‘We follow a hybrid concept, we are a restaurant and a wine merchant.’ This means that airport visitors, passengers and employees at The Circle or at the airport now have the opportunity to buy the right wine for an evening visit to friends or a barbecue.

For cosy evenings and lively parties

Leon's Bodega enjoys great popularity since day one. ‘I keep seeing guests taking photos of the room,’ René says. Of course, this atmospheric setting is also ideal for celebrating – whether as a group at the "big table" or with up to 75 people in the entire Bodega. René's insider tip for any nice get-together is: a Negre DO from Terroir sense Fronteres, Montsant, with its radiantly dark, fresh berry fruit and many Mediterranean herbal notes, accompanied by raw ham from the region, salami with fennel and smoked bacon or, as a vegetarian alternative, an artichoke with a strong vinaigrette.
