CEO Lunch of the Circle Community on sustainable building

How can sustainability and the circular economy become a reality in building? That was the topic discussed by some 50 leaders at the latest iteration of the CEO Lunch series of events.

CEO Lunch events are a part of the series of business events organised by the Circle Community. They promote networking and a regular knowledge transfer between the employees of companies in the Circle and at Zurich Airport. This event’s location couldn’t have been more fitting. As one of Europe’s largest buildings to have been awarded the globally recognised LEED sustainability certificate, the Circle provided the perfect backdrop for a discussion about sustainable building. Lively debates were kicked off by a panel discussion that demonstrated how sustainable building can be a success with a vision that is shared by all of the partners involved. The Green-Metro Campus Zurich, a large data centre currently under construction in Dielsdorf, was cited as one example of how the previously unattainable is made possible. Because for the first time ever, the project partners succeeded in producing an office building façade using 100 percent recycled aluminium. That approach enabled them to save 167 metric tonnes of CO2 – equivalent to a 95 percent reduction.
